Editing fiction with the reader in mind—so the story moves without distraction.
How it started...
When I was about ten, I watched a friend read a book while eating her after-school snack. It wasn’t assigned or required—she was reading simply because she wanted to. That small moment reshaped how I understood reading. It stopped being something you did for school and became something you could do anywhere, anytime. Reading shifted from a task to an invitation: the chance to disappear into a story, where time stretched and the world quietly faded out—an experience easily disrupted by small errors in spelling, grammar, or phrasing.
How it's going...
For more than twenty years, I’ve been developing the skills to support that experience for others. My background shaped a clear understanding of how meaning, tone, and structure work together on the page to strengthen the story and pacing. I earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ottawa and continue my professional development in editing, learning and development, and user experience, all of which inform how I approach fiction. Formal training in English as a Second Language—where grammar, sentence structure, and precision are central—sharpened my attention to the small details that keep readers comfortably inside a story.
I approach editing from the reader’s side of the page. When something causes me to pause or lose momentum, I know it will do the same for others. That awareness guides my work, line by line. Your story deserves to be read without distraction. I help make that happen.
