About
Where mindful editing keeps the reader inside the story.
Unexpected plot twists. Clever metaphors. Playful tension. Characters who say one thing and mean another.
A great sentence is one that the reader fully absorbs. A great novel stays in the reader's mind for days.
How it started...
When I was about ten, I watched a friend read a book while eating her after-school snack. It wasn’t assigned or required—she was reading simply because she wanted to. That small moment reshaped how I understood reading. It stopped being something you did for school and became something you could do anywhere, anytime; a way to disappear into another world while the one around you quietly faded out. That’s the experience I’m protecting when I edit.
How it's going...
For more than twenty years, I’ve been developing the skills to support that experience for others. My background shaped a clear understanding of how meaning, tone, and structure work together on the page to strengthen the story and pacing. I earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ottawa and continue my professional development in editing, learning and development, and user experience, all of which inform how I approach fiction. Formal training in English as a Second Language—where grammar, sentence structure, and precision are central—sharpened my attention to the small details that keep readers comfortably inside a story.
